Introduction to Goalkeeper Program (U7 - U12)

Players interested in learning the goalkeeper position will undergo training under the guidance of a Staff Keeper Coach. Sessions will focus on mastering the fundamentals of hand and feet positioning to stop and distribute the ball. Goalkeepers will participate in group activities simulating game-like situations to assess their comprehension from the keeper’s perspective. As goalies progress, the focus will shift to refining skills such as diving, positioning, handling high balls, catching, distribution on the ground or in the air, and effective challenges.

Intermediate/ Advanced Program (U13 plus)

For goalies aspiring to advance their skills, the Intermediate/Advanced Program, led by our certified and qualified keeper coach, offers specialized training. Sessions delve into all aspects of goalie positioning and team play, emphasizing situational awareness from the keeper’s viewpoint. Progressing goalies will refine advanced skills, including diving, when necessary, hand and feet positioning, handling high balls, effective challenges, and the strategic role of becoming the 11th attacker in both attacking and defending scenarios.

For Program Details

Position-Specific Curriculum designed for the GK Program. Goalkeeper training takes place once a week. Jarvis SC goalkeepers, in addition to goalkeeper training, will also attend all team practices. Our philosophy is that the goalkeeper must have the necessary skills to play with their feet in this modern era of soccer. Additionally, goalkeeper training is included in the membership fee with no additional cost to the players, and this includes goalkeeper equipment.
